Sodium Bicarbonate
J Carpenter Environmental, LLC sells Church & Dwight’s sodium bicarbonate products for acid gas control, soil remediation, slurry walls, and drilling. Church & Dwight is probably best known for its familiar Arm and Hammer orange box of bicarbonate that most people have in their refrigerators. However, its industrial sodium bicarbonate products are used in many industrial applications.
Sodium Bicarbonate has been used for air pollution control since the 1960’s when the electric power industry discovered that it is effective for acid gas control when directly injected as a dry sorbent. Today it is used to control gases from a variety of combustion processes, such as:
- Waste Incineration
- Foundries
- Aluminum Smelting
- Ethanol Production
- Brick Manufacture
- Co-Gen Facilities
Church & Dwight Sodium Bicarbonate is thermally activated, which expands the crystal’s surface area, exposing far more reaction sites for acid neutralization than comparable sorbent particles. This is the key to its efficiency advantage. Church & Dwight Bicarbonate is available in ready-to-inject particle sizes or can be milled at your site for even higher performance. It is shipped in bags, bulk sacks, bulk pneumatic trucks, or railcars.
In geotechnical applications, sodium bicarbonate is an effective buffer that keeps drilling fluids and other bentonite slurries in the proper pH range.
